This photo missed the mark for me in color.. did some experimental post processing on it last night, and I really like it. The intended goal was to make it black and white but I really liked the washed out colors and upped contrast. Click the picture to see both this and the color one.
Going out in a minute to go get a new lens – Nikon 50mm f/1.8.

Because, as we've learned, that's the thing about rapists. They rape people. A wedding band doesn't stop them, nor does the fact that they have children. Nor does their age. Denying this, as Mr. Depp is doing, silences rape victims. And, really, haven't victims already been silenced enough? - Evil Slutopia: Is Your Fetus More Important Than You Are? 2010/02/21
For those unfamiliar, the basic concept is that by viewing the fetus as a separate person and patient, its medical treatment ultimately requires invading the body of its mother. Samantha Burton's attorney, David Abrams, put it well: "Does the state own the inside of a woman's womb, that it can kind of intervene at will?" Granting a fetus personhood is inherently contradictory to maintaining the rights and dignity of the person carrying it. When a hospital can treat a pregnant women like a prisoner, utterly disregarding her rights and dignity, on the basis of "protecting" her fetus... what does that say about our society? - Violence against women is justified, says pupil study 2010/02/15

Where her bold confessional purportedly leaves her looking foolish, few people got bunched up over the excruciating memoir "American Sucker" by New Yorker film critic David Denby, about losing tons of money and all perspective in the wake of his wife's leaving their 18-year marriage. A couple of critics griped that he revealed too much personal stuff, but mostly, his self-exposure was welcomed. Publisher's Weekly printed a review of the book that asserted, "the work is more appealing when Denby focuses on himself ... Denby brutally details his decline, from a night of impotence to an affair with a married woman, then a six-month obsession with Internet porn -- harrowing stuff for a New Yorker staff writer ... More of Denby, and less of the Nasdaq, would have made this good book even better." - The Haiti Haters 2010/01/31
The reason some people call the Haitian quake biblical is that they believe, whether consciously or not, that it is a sort of divine retribution for the temerity of the Haitian Revolution, and for the idea that black people could take charge of their own lives.
